I did it again? The guy who made it didn't just make movies about airplanes. He also made airplanes.

A somewhat controversial western made in 1944. Because this is a hard one, here is another hint.

Looks like I did it this time...
The controversy is over the part Fred(Snowflake)Toones played in it. Some folks thought it was degrading for him to play that part.

Calling Wild Bill Elliott Now I have to look up Toones... All kinds of old movies are getting that these days. If it isn't Toones, it's Stepin Fetchit or someone else. It's like they're trying to flush everything down the Memory Hole, and this is the Convenient Excuse. Grrr... Time to post a pic of James Garner!

From what I understand, this is the last movie Fred Toones played in as the character, 'Snowflake.'

Yeah, fortunately, WWII pretty much made minstrel show-style "humor" obsolete almost overnight. That said, it's also said that black audiences appreciated Stepin Fetchit humor more than white audiences did.

Amazing how many films someone could crank out in a year back then.

Amazing how many films someone could crank out in a year back then. Hidden Valley Outlaws Because of the controversy, that movie isn't often aired. That's why there are few frame captures and those that exist are grainy as heck. I seriously doubt you could even buy a DVD of that movie. Oh, and it's fun to see James Garner driving in the movie, 'Grand Prix.' I'll pass to Bud for the next movie.
