'We've only got one problem in this country--we've got seven million people out of work. We ain't got no other problems at all... Prohibition, you hear a lot about that, but it ain't nothin' compared to your neighbor's children who don't get enough to eat.'--Will Rogers
Nowadays so many wives and single mothers have been squeezed into the workforce you have to multiply the number out of work, and thanks to food stamps and building codes the children are more likely to be homeless. But otherwise it's completely topicall.

'And kid Congress and the Senate, don't scold 'em. They are just children that's never grown up. They don't like to be corrected in company. Don't send messages to 'em, send candy.'--Will Rogers

'We are a good-natured bunch of saps in this country.
'When the president is wrong we charge it to inexperience. When Congress is wrong we charge it to habit. When the Senate is right we declare a national holiday. When the stock market drops fifty points we are supposed to not know it's through manipulation. When a bank fails we let the guy go start another one. When a judge convicts a murderer that's cruelty. When enforcement officers can't capture it fast enough to fill orders, that's good business.
'Everything is so cockeyed, what's the use of kidding ourselves?'--Will Rogers

'The more I see of politics... the more I wonder what in the world any man would ever want to take it up for. Then some people wonder why the best men of a community are not the office holders.'--Will Rogers

'See where there is a bill up in Congress now to change the Constitution all around, elect the president in a different way, and have Congress meet at a different time. It seems the men who drew up this thing years ago didn't know much, and we are just now getting a bunch of real fellows who can take that old Parchment and fix it up like it should have been all these years. It seems it's been luck that's got us by so far. Now, when they get the Constitution all fixed up, they are going to start in on the Ten Commandments, just as soon as they find somebody in Washington who has read them.'--Will Rogers
