The 2016 NFL Schedule will be unveiled tonight in a 2-hour special (seriously?) The first hour will be on ESPN from 8pm-9 ET, then switches over to ESPN2 from 9pm-10 ET. Opponents for each team were already known at the end of the 2015 season...tonight the dates will be set for each game. I will be able to plan for Dallas Cowboy losses.

I've got a real good feeling about the Chiefs this year. It's mostly the same team as last year, which is a large part of the reason why. Justin Houston will start the season on the bench, unfortunately, but they managed to field one of the best defenses in the league without him much of last year.
They tinkered with their offensive line a little. They worked harder at getting some wide receivers. Of course, sometimes I think Smith's nearsighted, because he hardly ever even tries to throw down the field. I guess you don't become one of the least-intercepted quarterbacks ever by throwing Hail Marys, but maybe they'll force him to throw a few their general direction and see what happens.
Jamaal Charles is healthy again. I love it when Jamaal Charles is healthy. Reminds me of when Marcus Allen and I were young.

I got a great pic of Allen getting a touchdown. He doesn't have it yet--his foot is in the air, about to cross the goal line--but Joe Montana already has his hands in the air.

My best memory of Marcus Allen was when he won $125 for me on a football pool when he was with the Raiders. Probably 1984, it was at the very end of the quarter...he ran for a very long TD. To make it even better, they beat the Washington Redskins.

The TD I was talking about was in '94, and put them on top of the 49ers.
Montana seemed particularly motivated that day, for some reason...

i'm giving up politics to focus on sports... anyone into lawn bowling? lawn bowling? You're not putting much faith in the Seahawks this year then. I'll let you know if the Cubs don't make the World Series. (Dear God, they're on a 4-game losing streak now.) I agree with the politics part. That sucks this year. And I know the Cowboys are going to choke again. I'm not even going to let myself get suckered in this year. Nope...you can't make me do it. Nooooooooo.

Britain, of all places, is managing some reassuring politics. Might be time to take an interest in cricket.

My Chiefs host the Seahawks in the first preseason game. I wonder if we'll see Jamaal Charles at all that week?
Then they go across the state to see the Rams, and up to Soldier Field. Finally, they recreate the first Super Bowl--and if the officials were a little more honest, it could have been the matchup of the fiftieth, too. But if they play the Packers for real this season, Super Bowl LI is where it will be.
If they can develop good safeties and guards (and keep people like Charles and Houston healthy), they're going to go places postseason.
The AFC West gets to deal with the NFC South this time. They get to host the Saints and Bucs. Ain't it nice that they get to go on the road to deal with the two tough ones?

still not ready to talk about football, even though I know training camps are opening -- maybe this weekend? Cubs traded for a good closer yesterday. Cowboys got another suspension upheld. It's a no-brainer.

still not ready to talk about football... I understand. In fact, I suspect you have put the whole NFL on a four game suspension...
