On the one hand, this feels like the most relevant Coolidge quote to fit the situation... 'To reduce war taxes is to give every home a better chance... Of all services which the Congress can render to the country I have no hesitation in declaring this one to be paramount.'--Calvin Coolidge On the other hand... 'There is no dignity quite so impressive, and no independence quite so important, as living within your means.'--Calvin Coolidge This seems to me to be what Washington is intent on depriving us of. Inflation depletes our living wages, leaving even those who work full time dependent on the government to make ends meet. And the propaganda machine, which we support, tells us myriad ways every day that Washington is helping us because we need it, and downplays the fact that the policies of Washington are what leave our wages insufficient to our needs. So we pay our taxes and hope we can fill out enough forms and wait in enough lines to get enough of it back to survive...

Pretty much nails it, now I need a drink.
