UPDATE: News7 Boston is confirming the story as legit. The photo was apparently an issue because it was a pre-dance photo taken by the boy’s father and was captioned “Homecoming 2014″. It was posted along with several other posed photos of the couple ahead of their first dance. From the News7 article:
“What it’s about is a coupled students engaging in an activity that created a total disruption of the school day,” Superintendent Richard W. Gross said.
ORIGINAL STORY: We might have one of the worst anti-gun hysteria cases in a school to date. Please note, we only have the word of the student in question at this time via a Facebook post.
Two students, a male and female who are boyfriend and girlfriend have been suspended from their high school after they posted a photo of themselves holding AIRSOFT guns, in the boy’s home.
When I first started researching this story I though, “Damn, they suspended them just for taking a photo with legally owned firearms in their own home under adult supervision? That’s absurd.” Then I found out the guns were Airsoft rifles and I didn’t even know what to think.
Seriously, what the hell is going on here?
Here is the post from the male student, identified on Facebook as Tito Velez (he publicly posted his name). Paragraph breaks added for readability and basic spelling errors fixed.
